Carpet beetle and moth treatment

Carpet beetle larvae and moths can wreak havoc on natural fibres, causing significant damage to carpets, rugs, furniture, and clothing. Our experienced team inspects affected areas, including common hiding spots, to accurately assess the infestation. Using an Integrated Pest Management approach, we disrupt the pests' life cycles and prevent re-infestation. Regular vacuuming and proper carpet care play a crucial role in minimising pest activity. But when pests persist, it’s time to call a certified professional like Advanced Carpet Cleaning for effective carpet moth treatment in Christchurch.

Flea treatment & control

Fleas are a common issue, often brought into homes by pets. While only 5% of an infestation is visible as adult fleas, the remaining 95% are hidden in eggs, larvae, and pupae stages—making quick action essential. Left untreated, fleas can severely affect both pets and people and may carry diseases. Why professional flea treatment matters:

  • Comprehensive coverage of all flea life stages for thorough eradication.
  • Effective carpet treatments to eliminate fleas from carpets and upholstery.
  • Safe and certified pest control methods to protect your family and pets.

Trust our NZQA-certified technician for flea treatment in Christchurch. Call us today to safeguard your home from fleas and enjoy peace of mind.

Carpet pests FAQs

  • Are your pest control products safe?

In conjunction with several non-chemical measures we will recommend to you, a spray applied directly to the infested areas is usually required.

This is in line with the industry recognised Integrated Pest Management approach which combines multiple measures appropriate to the life cycles and habitats of pests, and doesn’t rely solely on chemical applications.

If you’re living in a property requiring treatment, we can email you a checklist with information on the steps you can take to proactively manage a pest issue, and what to do ahead of your carpet pest treatment.

  • How do I know if we have fleas?

    - Adult fleas are always big enough to be visible in a pet’s fur or elsewhere

    - Fleas can be felt and seen when biting

    - Fleas tend to jump onto the lower parts of the body (feet, ankles, lower legs) as we walk; they can move anywhere from there

  • How do I know if I have a carpet beetle problem?

Common signs are bare patches in your carpet, or possibly small holes in carpets, rugs, or fabrics. You may see larvae or empty cocoons.

Larvae feed on wool, feathers, fur, hair, leather, lint, dust, and sometimes cotton, linen, and silk. Case bearing clothes moth larvae use the fibres of natural or synthetic material to encase themselves for their pupating stage.

  • Will carpet cleaning kill fleas? What about carpet moth?

Carpet cleaning will kill and remove some fleas and carpet moths (as will intensive vacuuming), but it isn’t enough to eradicate the pests at all their life stages so the infestation will return .

  • If there’s carpet beetle in the carpet, where else might they be?

Check linen closets, storage cupboards, and wardrobes. They will tuck themselves away in dark, undisturbed corners.

  • Do moth traps work?

Moth traps will capture adult moths onto the sticky surface. As part of an overall treatment plan, this is an effective measure to reduce mating activity and egg-laying.

  • Do rooms need to be empty of furniture before treatment? And do you do this as part of your service?

Depending on the extent of the carpet  moth infestation, usually furniture just needs to be moved a couple of feet away from the edges of the room before treatment.

All items on the floors of cupboards and wardrobes should be removed.

We ask that all furniture is moved before we arrive.

The technician will advise you on when it can be returned onto the treated carpet (usually the same day).

Carpet flea treatment is most effective if all carpet is sprayed (in affected areas of the house) so furniture removal is recommended.

  • What forms of payment do you accept?

For your convenience and ours, we bring mobile Eftpos for payment at the time of service.

Payment can be made using debit or credit cards.

Non-PayWave debit card transactions are free.

Bank surcharge applies to PayWave and credit transactions.
